Starting October 23, 2027, passengers will be allowed to bring one small bag or backpack measuring up to 40 × 30 × 15 cm on board free of charge. The item must fit under the seat in front of them.
⏺ Larger suitcases will not become free for everyone. Airlines will still be able to set their own rules and charge additional fees for larger carry-on baggage.
⏺ Budget fares will remain available. Basic or Light tickets may not include a larger cabin suitcase.
⏺ Comparing prices will become easier. Airlines will be required to display the ticket price together with the cost of one piece of carry-on baggage before passengers begin the booking process.
Until the new rules come into effect, airlines’ current baggage policies will continue to apply. Therefore, before purchasing a ticket, check which baggage allowance is included in your fare.
The changes are intended to make baggage rules clearer, but they will not eliminate additional charges for larger suitcases.
